Illustration Friday, Opposites

Here is my drawing for "Opposites".

We are so different, yet the same. We are male and female, yet "one flesh".

The old redneck says, "wimin, can't live wif 'em, can't live wifout 'em!" I don't even want to know what my wife thinks when she is most frustrated with me! It's a wonder we get along at all. Yet we are curiously bound to each other. The attraction is overpowering. And the experience of oneness is most sublime.

"The man said, 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called "woman," for she was taken out of man.'
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
"The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame."

I got inspired to try my hand at REAL drawing with pencils, paper, and erasers after visiting Comic Con 2006 yesterday in San Diego. Illustration by Robert McLaughlin. You can purchase this print for less than $10 at Foto Bella.

Behind every great man is a great woman...

Nothing beats the old #2 and a piece of paper... I really like your shading and concept

It's been awhile since I've gotten 'round to visit other folks' blogs, and it's been my loss. Great pencil sketch... and I scrolled on down to your 'sacrifice' (great graphic) and your 'rain' (haunting) pieces. And you're right, your mother is a beautiful woman (photo below hailing cab). Thanks for dropping by my post... Yes, the chrome effects were done in Photoshop... played with the 'contour' and 'satin' curves in the bevel and emboss layer effects... not original with me by any means... several tutorials out there on that effect. Peace.
