Illustration Friday, Trouble

Our Troubles Have Ceased

"they are before the throne of God
and serve him day and night in his temple
and he who sits on the throne
will spread his tent over them.

"Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat upon them,
nor any scorching heat.

"For the Lamb at the center of the
throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of water.

"And God will wipe away every
tear from their eyes."

—Revelation 7:15–17

Illustration created in Photoshop by Robert McLaughlin.

Image from Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I duplicated the background layer, inverted the image, masked out the graves, darkened the sky, shifted the color toward deep blue. On the background I desaturated the graves and shifted the colors toward blue. I created the wisps of fog on a separate layer and created the face in the fog with the smudge tool.

After flattening the image I applied the Melancholytron filter from Flaming Pear. Download a 30-day fully-enabled demo of the plug-in here.

Viola [voo-ah-la]! A creepy night graveyard scene from a daytime shot of the graveyard.

Another great 3D post! Though the new pic and the different name in the masthead threw me for a minute.
