I'm Going to New Orleans as part of Operation Photo Rescue! Our team's mission is to restore the damaged family photos of Hurricane Katrina's victims.
I have to thank my publisher, Dick High, for making this possible; my coworkers at the North County Times for scrambling to cover for me and support in making this happen; and of course, Dave Ellis, Rebecca Sell, and Mike Morones for opening the door of opportunity with this tremendous outreach effort.
I've doodled and scribbled since almost before I can remember. One of my first memories is of decorating the walls of our 1950's suburban home with crayons. Ahhh, who can deny the appeal of a large canvas?
In downtown Vista, California, USA, in the early 1990s I operated Signature Studios. The studio's bread-and-butter income was photographic copies and restorations. Back in the early 90s digital retouching was new and the equipment expensive. I used the darkroom, photo dyes, pencils, pastels, paints... whatever I could get my hands on to restore the memories of my clients.
My first experience with Photoshop in 1995 was incredible! It's amazing how Photoshop makes easy the sometimes laborious task of restorations.
I know Operation Photo Rescue is my calling. I'll keep you all posted. The North County Times (Circ. over 250,000) will be doing a story on this.

What an amazing experience. Can't wait to see your work.
What a great way to use your talents! Having been on three Work & Witness trips, it is often difficult to feel like an 'artist' has much of a place when they are framing roofs and welding. It would be great to actually use the passion for digital art in this kind of way. Awesome!! (And hat's off to you for investing the time!)
